"I saw the lovely arch
Of rainbow span the sky,
The gold sun burning
As the rain swept by."

Happy November/December everyone! We only have 23 days of school time until our winter break. Yes, that’s right, only 23 days total! The children will continue their study of rats and bats. When we receive our second rat and when she is old enough, we will mate her with one of Teacher Tim’s rats. This won’t happen for at least another 3 months. The kids are learning a new way of doing some language arts activities called, Daily Five. Daily five includes five areas of choice for the children: word work (site words, phonics, etc), read to self, read to someone, listen to reading, and work on writing. Each of these categories will have one to several center choices. I have already been doing this but the kids just know it as center choices. So I will continue to teach lots of centers and next term will introduce a new chart with the Daily Five choices. I will eventually adapt this to math as well. We have our compact meetings this month, starting November 7th. Keep an eye out for the sign-up sheets. Have a great rest of the term everyone.
